Ibda’a Celebrates 25 Years Of Service To Dheisheh
On October 28, 2019 Ibda’a held an Anniversary Celebration at the
University of Bethlehem
Bethlehem, Palestine – Ibda’a
Cultural Center held a Silver Jubilee Celebration in commemoration of their 25
years of service in Dheiehsheh.
Despite a cold wind, the outdoor auditorium
at the Bethlehem University was at capacity with nearly 3,000 attendees. Ibda’a
was able to honor all of the contributions and people that have made the
organization successful for two and a half decades. Esteemed guests included; Governors,
present and former Ministers of the government, the Archbishop Atallah Hanna, community
leaders from all over Palestine, representatives of the United Nations, Directors
of major social and cultural organizations, and political prisoners including
the first female Palestinian who served time in an Israeli prison.
Ibda’a took time to honor volunteers and
board members who have passed as well as some martyrs who played key roles as
volunteers and beneficiaries at the center. Overall the event was a huge
success and a means to remember why Ibda’a plays an important role in the
community.
Ibda'a
Cultural Center (Ibda'a) is a grassroots, community-based organization located
in the Dheisheh refugee camp within occupied Palestinian Territory. Since its
foundation in 1994, Ibda'a serves more than 2000 children, youth and women
annually. Ibda'a’s mission is to create a positive atmosphere for children,
youth and women in the refugee camp in order to assist them in developing
creativity and leadership skills through a range of social, cultural and
educational activities.
